Fall Trail Mix Rice Krispie Treats Recipe
I love rice krispie treats and fall! So here’s a recipe that combines both.
Not only do I have a recipe for you. I’ve got a giveaway.
Before I get into the recipe, I want to tell you about some amazing peanut butters I’ve been obsessing over lately. You may have noticed that the last several of my recipes included Peanut Butter & Co. peanut butters. I discovered them at our local grocery store* and couldn’t help but try just about every flavor. Even maple, and I hate maple-flavored things.
Peanut Butter and Co. Peanut Butter Review
Here’s a rundown of the flavors I’ve tried (in order of favorite to least favorite).
- Cinnamon Raisin Swirl Remember ants on a log? Well, take away the celery and add cinnamon. Best if eaten straight from the jar or slathered all over anything within arm’s reach.
- Mighty Maple Generally maple grosses me out. The flavor isn’t overwhelming and it’s a lovely twist on plain smooth peanut butter.
- Dark Chocolate Dreams Chocolate. Peanut butter. Any questions? What I like best about this flavor is that the sugar content isn’t out of control (like Nutella for instance). It’s fun to substitute for regular peanut butter in recipes.
- Smooth Operator This is the BEST smooth peanut butter in a jar that I’ve tasted for a long time. Not too sugary. Not too salty. Just right.
- Crunch Time I’ve never liked a brand’s smooth over crunchy before, but this brand is an exception. Crunch time tastes the same as smooth operator but with lots of big peanut chunks.
- The Heat is On I haven’t had much of a chance to play with this flavor yet. It’s good on celery. But I imagine this would be good for cooking interesting recipes. Hardly any sugar in this flavor. And a slow burn.
- White Chocolate Wonderful I didn’t dislike this flavor but it didn’t stand out to me either, which is why it goes last in line of the rest of these interesting flavors.
So why did I want to share this with you today? Because I’ve got a recipe for you involving one of these peanut butters.
Fall Trail Mix Rice Krispies
Ingredients
- 1 16.5 oz bag of mini marshmallows, with about 1/4 the bag reserved
- 4 T butter
- 1 t vanilla
- 1/2 c Peanut Butter & Co.’s Dark Chocolate Dream (or use 1/2 cup of regular pb of choice)
- 1 9 oz bag of Brach’s caramel candy corn
- 1 c Snyders Peanut Butter Pretzel Sandwiches (crushed)
- 6 c crispy rice cereal of choice (or use 2 cups pretzels and 5 cups cereal)
Directions
- In a large, microwave-safe bowl, melt marshmallows (except the few you set aside) and butter, stirring every 30 seconds. Mixture should look translucent when ready.
- Remove from microwave and mix in vanilla and peanut butter.
- Pour cereal and pretzels in the mixture and stir until mostly combined.
- Add marshmallows and candy corn and stir to distribute.
- Press into a 9×13″ pan, cool until hardened, and cut into 24-30 squares.
Oh, and, to help you create your own rice krispie treats, I’m giving away one (1) jar of Dark Chocolate Dreams.
The packaging even has a cute lil’ monkey on it that’s catching some z’s.
How do you win? Simple. Just leave a comment. Any comment will do.

a) sorry, didn’t link up quite properly, but don’t know how to edit it. Should read: Kelly // How to Plan a Fabulous Party, b) I obviously need to read directions more carefully, c) OMG. Cinnamon Raisin PEANUT BUTTER?!?!?! How have I never had any of this?, and d) thanks for the great link-up idea – I had so much fun crafting this post and thinking about future ones 🙂

Kelly @ No Sugar Sweet LifeOK, I deleted the link up and reposted with the proper naming conventions 🙂 Didn’t want to get in trouble on week 1… ha!
chimes
Kelly @ No Sugar Sweet Lifehaha — no worries. I don’t care how you do it. I just thought that would be the easiest way for readers to surf through all the submissions since some will be giveaways.
chimes
Kelly @ No Sugar Sweet LifeYesssss … cinnamon raisin is awesome. that one has probably more sugar in it than you would like. The chocolate ones are surprisingly lower sugar though.
Michelle @ Eat Move Balance
GREAT idea for Tuesdays!! Very fun!
All those PB’s look fabulous–I’ve only ever tried the dark chocolate dreams which was insanely good. I’d love to try the cinnamon raisin!
chimes
Michelle @ Eat Move Balancethanks for linking up! and cinnamon raisin is da bomb.
Lindsay @ Lindsay's List
I’ve wanted to try these, but have just never seen them in stores around here! the dark chocolate one looks dreamy.
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen
I’ve tried ’em all, except The Heat Is On…because I can’t find it anywhere except the really expensive natural food store and I make my own peanut butter so that seems sort of silly.
PS. Trail Mix Nutty Butter is SO happening. Just FYI.
chimes
Sarah @ The Smart KitchenSO true. You should make a spicy chocolate peanut butter. There’s a spicy hot chocolate that I love that you could use as inspo. 😉
And totally excited for trail mix nutty butter. That would rule. 🙂
Jenny
I’ve read a lot about the PB&Co brand, but have yet to partake. And Dark Chocolate Dreams would be my top pick!!
Joanna @ Midwestern Bite
I hardly ever try for giveaways, but I want this. I really want this. Pick me, pick me!
chimes
Joanna @ Midwestern Biteevery time somebody’s commented like that … they win. I’m going to laugh if you win.

What a fun linkup! I’ve been dying to try this brand of peanut butter. The White Chocolate Wonderful sounds delicious!
Kim @ Wonderings
Not so sure about the spicy or the maple flavors but I would certainly try any of the others!
chimes
Kim @ WonderingsI seriously hate maple ANYTHING. I don’t know how they did it, but it’s sooo good.
Maureen
Peanut Butter is loved in my house and to have it with chocolate or other flavorings how delicious.
Katie O
Love their White Chocolate PB!

janetha

chimes
janethaYes. I feel like I should mail you some Mighty Maple JUST for that.
Corrie Anne
I love that little snack recipe, but please don’t say fall!!! Lol. I don’t want summer to end. Ever.
chimes
Corrie Annehaha. sorry. i’m with you. i saw the fall candy was out and “caramel candy corn peanut butter pretzel dark chocolate rice krispies” was too long of a titel.

chimes
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nutgahhhh. I’m going to make sure that the time zones are correct for this. I bet it was set to Eastern time or something and I had it set for 11:59 PM to close.

Dark chocolate peanut butter??!!? omg I need this.
Heather @ Kiss My Broccoli
The white chocolate wonderful was just…underwhelming to me. I think I expected more white chocolate flavor. The mighty maple grew on me. But cinnamon raisin swirl, OMG, I would sell a kidney for a lifetime supply of that stuff! And I want to try the heat is on soooooooooooo bad! I bet it would make a kickin’ peanut sauce for spring rolls! 😀
chimes
Heather @ Kiss My Broccolioooh … peanut dipping sauce. brilliant!
I tried making chocolate peanut butter balls with it last night. it’s too spicy. i even cut it with regular peanut butter. definitely reserving for a savory idea.
and my brilliant idea is: grilled peanut butter and blue cheese … possibly with buffalo chicken, but sticking to the pb cheese first.
Shaunna@mamas13minutemile
Any comment? YOU ROCK! 🙂
Lilia F
I do like my Nutella…but since when has a change ever hurt? Also, do these PB’s have any of the fructose bits we’re all supposed to stay away from?
chimes
Lilia Fnegatory — no high fructose anything, though I’m of the school of any sugar is sugar and it’s all kind of bad for us. I love nutella, but the dark chocolate dreams has SO much less sugar and is made from whole ingredients.
Keya Millionie
I’ve never tried PB & Co but there are SO many recipes I want to try with their flavors.
