I almost forgot to share with you that after last week’s Sweet Tunes Thursday featuring Andrew W.K., I got a special “like” on Facebook:
Major *squee*! And of course, I already liked him back. Major props for the “like”.
Unfortunately, I’m not going to see Andrew W.K. tomorrow night in Des Moines, but I am going to see one of my other favorite bands: The Faint.
They’re going to be at Wooly’s in Des Moines. Never been to Wooly’s but if The Faint is there, I’m game.
I love them so much that I’ve already featured them several times on life + running:
- Sweet Tunes Thursday: Power Songs
- A Bit of “Out there” Music Taste
- Sweet Tunes Thursday: The Faint
Normally I pick a higher-quality video to share with you, but this is a video of one of my favorite songs of theirs from the last time I saw them live. Also, what I love about this is that you can see the crazy light show that they have. I’ve heard that they basically spend no money on tours other than on lighting.
I’m even going to be a total fangirl and wear my handmade The Faint shirt (that some guy offered to buy off my back once …).
What are some of your favorite bands? Do you go all fangirl (or boy) when you get to see them live?
PS — if you haven’t already, make sure you enter my PB&Co giveaway! One more day to win!

I think I just fell in love with your blog! I’m new to blogging and just now jumping on the healthy living blogs band wagon. Gotta start somewhere…
You remind me of me 8 years ago. I was such a huge fan of the band Thrice (I still am, actually…that will never change). I must have seen them live over 100 times since 2000. I even ended up briefly working for them in 2005, going on a mini tour with them, and managing their street team and MySpace page. I think that was the ultimate fangirl craziness. I kind of fell out of love with music and bands in general a few years ago when I started teaching. All of the sudden I found live shows to be too loud and full of too many annoying hipsters (even though I was sort of hipster-ish or whatever not too long ago). I really admire your passion for good music. Kind of wish I still had that but it’s just not my style anymore.

Stephanieha — I’m right there with you. I used to go to shows all the time, but I think this might be the only one I’ve gone to all year. It’s in a small bar, and that’s more my scene than anything else.
Though … when Megadeth tours, I’m in the front row on the railing. Probably will be until I’m 80 years old, or when Dave Mustaine dies … whichever comes first.
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning
My favorite band when I was growing up was Radiohead (well, in like high school- college). I still love them but I guess now I’d list my favorites as Ben Folds Five, Coldplay, Jimmy Eat World, Mat Kearney.. that list could get really long. Music and concerts were my LIFE in high school in college. I generally went to live shows every single weekend and have seen (and hung out with) some of the greats. I’ll have to tell you about an all-nighter with Smashmouth sometime (yes- I know… but it was actually cool and the show was free.)
Andrew WK liking you if freaking awesome.

Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinningditto! not on the bands. I’m a huge jimmy freak though. Rick (the bassist) gave me a setlist and pick from the last show I went to see. I’m sure I’ve done several sweet tunes thursdays on them.
btw. I need a graphic for this feature. 😉
Michelle @ Eat Move Balance
That shirt is awesome!!! You’ve got to wear it! 🙂
Mike @ Midwestern Bite
Really thinking I need to steal your idea, (and the wife’s blog), and rock out a song per week. Feel free to leave angry messages over there for not sending you intellectual property royalties, even though I’ll *probably* change the title.

Mike @ Midwestern Bitebahaha.
Actually, I was planning on making a graphic for this feature sometime soon. so if you want to “steal it” and use the graphic, I’d be okay with that. I’ve been doing this on and off thursdays for a few years, but if other people want to jump in, I’d be cool with that.

Mike @ Midwestern Bitealso, I love that you steal your wife’s blog. I write Mark’s cooking posts, but I would *love* for him to write them himself.
Mike @ Midwestern Bite
chimesHer fault she asked me to build the site, thereby giving me the keys. 🙂

Oh, and I got quite a few re-tweets from the man WK himself thanks to our interaction after your Sweet Tunes post. Nice that he spreads the love to us.

The Geeks Were Right is my fav. I also heard one of their songs on The Office once and it was awesome. 🙂

Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health NutSay what? as in Jake that’s in The Faint? … 1st cousin? close enough for him to call and say “you should say hi to that cute fangirl and her red-bearded boyfriend”? because that would make my millennium. 🙂

Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health NutAlso, I forgot to mention that I marathon trained when Fasciination came out. I listened to all their albums for my long runs. 🙂
