chimes by design

These abstract landscapes mark the beginning of a series inspired by my artist residency at the Iowa Lakeside Lab. Growing up in Iowa, I was surrounded by landscapes most might consider mundane—farmscapes that hold memories for me, reminding me of long summer runs on gravel roads.

 

These works are a mixed-media exploration, combining acrylic gouache and ink with colored pencil textures. For the base, I upcycled 100% cotton paperboard from hand-printed ephemera leftover from my wedding. Repurposing found materials is a common thread in my artistic practice.
