Let’s Taco ‘Bout It: Taqueria Guerita
There’s often a lack of understanding between U.S. citizens and the Latine community regarding immigration. Many folks are unsure if Latine people are legal U.S. citizens and this generates fear. Taqueria Guerita aimed to bridge this gap by offering free, authentic Mexican food alongside factual information about immigration in Iowa. Providing clear information can foster open discussions.
Taqueria Guerita (roughly “Little Blondie’s Tacos”) sparked initial conversations and offered a unique platform for information sharing. While logistical challenges arose (lack of electricity), and I prioritize wholly positive experiences, Taqueria Guerita’s concept demonstrates the potential of design to encourage dialogue. I’m committed to creating positive social impact through innovative design in the future.
