My Greeting Card Design: “I Like How You Roll” won a Minted Editor’s Pick Award
I won another Editor’s Pick award on Minted.com for my greeting card design submission to their Heart to Heart Classroom Valentine Card Challenge. My entry was one of 762 entries and is one of 118 winners.
Design Process for “I Like How You Roll”
I have been into retro 70s and 80s “stuff”, like cassette tapes, classic cars, and roller skates. I drew a bunch of roller skates in my sketchbook one day during my art residency last summer as part of my daily sketchbook practice using my art prompt generator that I coded in p5.js.
I polished up one of those skates for this card. I really loved how my “You Rock!” design had some type that burst out of the frame, so I did a similar treatment on this card as well.
Here is my winning entry: “I Like How You Roll”
I’m thrilled to be a part of Minted’s artist community and look forward to other opportunities with them. Through them, I’ve had designs picked up by major retailers. I participate in Minted’s design challenges to build my illustration skills and to help them include more queer voices in their offerings. I hope they continue to support independent artists and try harder to include a more diverse group of artists and styles than are currently represented in their collections.
“I Like How You Roll” is for sale in my Minted store.

I’m pumped to see my design launched!
