New Work: Holiday Hijinx Pattern Collection
I was inspired by vintage holiday decor and Pyrex to create this fun repeat pattern design collection. I’ve been dabbling in pattern design since 2016 and recently realized that EVERYTHING I design has a pattern element to it. In fact, one of my grad school buddies refers to me as “The Pattern Slayer”. I decided to lean hard into that nickname and ended up designing 70+ holiday-themed patterns.

Holly Jolly Colorway
Red and green is a staple of Christmas decor, so obviously I had to design a colorway that screamed Christmas. I combined colors found in vintage Pyrex and holiday decor with trending colors, such as the dark teal green, to give this set a vintage yet fresh feel.
Let it Snow! Colorway
My Let it Snow! color way was 100% vintage pyrex colors in action. After doing the red and green Holly Jolly colorway I wanted to do something that didn’t scream Christmas because most of these patterns are everyday patterns and not just for holiday fun. I pulled in the trendy dark teal blue again because I love that color and it went well with the gold and light blue.

It wouldn’t be something I designed if I didn’t try to cram in all the colors. My original color selection for this pattern collection included 12 or more colors. I only wanted to use 3-5 of those colors per colorway but knew that one had to be chock full of as much color as possible or it just wouldn’t look like my work. I decided to pull in colors I hadn’t used much in the other schemes to differentiate from the other two colorways.
OBVIOUSLY this is my favorite of the three colorways (with Let it Snow! coming in 2nd).
What next?
I loved designing this pattern collection so much! I am already designing another collection and am going back to revise a few of my old one-off repeat patterns into collections (that’s right—little birdies will become a collection!). Designing patterns takes all of my favorite things and combines them: designing for a story, drawing/painting, selecting colors and applying them to art, and working in tons of iteration and series. It’s so much fun!
Where can I buy Holiday Hijinx?
I’ve addressed this question on a few of my social media outlets, but as of right now these patterns aren’t widely available for purchase. I am trying to figure out pattern licensing before I post these patterns anywhere for purchase because posting them could ruin my chances at licensing them with large companies.
However, if you are interested in purchasing any of these patterns as fabric, wrapping paper, or digital paper, please contact me (a comment here would work). I have the ability to purchase these items privately without posting the patterns publicly. 🙂

I am interested in the weapping paper!
