I debated on writing a big, fat wedding recap, but decided against it. Instead, photos! Because that’s what everybody is interested in seeing anyway. I’ll add commentary because that’s what I do. 😉
But first, a couple of quick things …
- Joe and Libby Crimmings took our (amazing!) photos and I couldn’t be happier with them. Huge thank you to them for shooting our wedding even though they don’t do weddings anymore.
- The Washington County Historic Courthouse no longer does weddings! Read about it here.Â
- Every bride is entitled to one freakout about one stupid thing on her wedding day. 🙂
- I still have no freaking clue what we’re going to do with that giant mural …
- Pro tip: have your caterer bring you an extra plate of food after the meal is over and leave that AND a pitcher of water at your table.
AND the most important thing?
Never — under any circumstances — plan your wedding the week after you graduate and / or move somewhere new.
All right, now for the pretty pictures!
FYI there will be gratuitous pictures of feet. Also? These are just a few favorites of our 500+ pix. I’m planning to do a bunch of vendor shout-out posts with links to the vendors who did such a fabulous job on our wedding. Mark and I designed and made most everything you see.Â
Pre-Shindig Decorating
Ladies Gettin’ Pretty
Mark left me a note on one of the vintage TMNT postcards I bought him to keep in touch whle we were long distance.Â
I didn’t have a plan for how I’d do my veil until I put it on that day. Here I am cutting and hoping I don’t snip my hair! Also? I didn’t mean to get ready in my Bowie t-shirt, but I totally forgot the cute robe I’d bought for the day! Bowie was way more fitting for me anyway.Â
Kim was showing everybody this photo of us:
My reaction:Â
Side note: I sent that bouquet back to the florist because it wasn’t big enough (and the bridesmaid flowers were — and ended up being — too big). I’m the only one who noticed the bridesmaid flowers but I’m so glad that I sent my bouquet back. I think they were afraid of it being TOO big for my tiny frame. I was serious when I said go bigger than they were comfortable doing! The final result was perfect.
Boys Gettin’ Handsome
I didn’t have a plan for where our officiant would have his script, so at the last minute I printed it out and taped it on the inside of a Postal Service LP.Â
Mark was SUPER excited about his fully custom suit. He was so pumped to wear this and his shoes.Â
The Main Event
Quick note: IT WAS 40° OUT. Shoutout to everybody who froze for 20 minutes! Thank you!Â
Our friend and former roommate married us. Here’s his license to prove it. 😀
Can we all pause for a second and admire my arms here? Thanks.Â
Sneak Peek at our Honeymoon Suite
It was cold and wet, so we took Joe and Libby to our sweet honeymoon suite for some pics. Glad we did because it was such a cool space!
Party On!
Mark gained access to the bride’s secret room. He looks pleased. I love that photo.Â
I did a makeup and hair change between the ceremony and reception (was hoping to change hair colors but opted for the flowers instead).Â
Ugh these flowers (!!!)Â
Nobody bothered to point out that I had a hair boner … but maybe nobody but me notices this …Â
Shoutout to Steph for running our music! It was perfect.
Side note: if running your music off your laptop or phone, bring a second charger. My charger DIED in the middle of the day and I almost lost the ability to play our playlist! Apple replaced my charger free of charge because I told them it happened on my wedding day and almost ruined it (normally it’s “your fault” when their chargers break from normal use).
s/o to Sammie B Awesome and Danielle for fixing my damn charger and saving the dance!
Dad wanted the music louder.Â

That’s it!
Sorry it took so long. I was waiting to see if I’d get published on some wedding blogs. Apparently we were neither fancy enough nor offbeat enough to be published, but I still think our wedding was pretty dang cool.Â
