Modern Quilted Pillow Covers
Yo!
I’ve been getting crafty with our home decor lately.
We both had gotten pretty sick of our old pillow covers that I made back in 2011. I decided it was time for a new look.

Frankly, since we’re living on one salary right now, we’re on a tight budget and haven’t bought much furniture or decor.
But we bought this gorgeous sideboard back in March.

Mark and I love the look of the geometric sculpted wood on our sideboard. I realized it would be easy to echo this pattern in a few other places with a couple of pillow covers based on that geometric pattern.
We are both loving blue and teal right now, so I chose fabrics in those colors from my stash.
Here are a couple of pictures of one of the finished pillow covers.

I always make envelope pillow covers because they’re easy to change out and clean, and I’m too lazy to put in a zipper.
Here’s a great tutorial for envelope pillow covers that I’ve followed. I made these a little smaller than the pillow form so that they would be a little more firm and overstuffed.
You probably recognize this fabric from our wedding table runners … 🙂

I’m really proud of the straight stitching on this. I used my walking foot and turned the speed down low to quilt these.

I’m working on making some more pillow covers, and will post the results soon. I love sewing home projects because you get to enjoy the results every day.
Have you made any home decor? What did you make?
