Wedding Wednesday: DIY Upcycled Votive Holders
Mark and I decided to make a lot of the decor for our wedding, so I’ve been saving odds and ends around the house.
I discovered Traderspoint Creamery yogurt, which comes in cute little glass jars. I buy yogurt anyway, and the price of Traderspoint is comparable to the typical brands of yogurt I buy. I saved all my jars for a year, and then removed the labels, washed them, and applied copper tape*. Easy peasy! The application of tape took me *maybe* 15 minutes.
It is hard to apply the tape without wrinkles on a curved surface. I liked the look of the wrinkles, so I just tried to wrinkle evenly.
We are putting tea light candles in these jars since our venue requires us to have at least 1.5 inches clearance above a flame. These jars would definitely work for votives.
Note: If you want to save these yogurt containers for a similar project, do NOT put them in the dishwasher. I don’t have a dishwasher, but the labels stuck (permanently) on the few jars that went through either mine or Mark’s parents’ dishwashers.
