Sweet Tunes Thursday: Rush
Liking Rush has become the new black.
But, I was ahead of the times — my dad owns an amazing record collection, so I was introduced to this power prog-rock trio a long time ago.
Meet Geddy Lee: bassist and lead singer with the strangest voice (I swore he was a woman for most of my life); Neil Pert: drummer extraordinaire; and Alex Lifeson: guitar playing king.
I thought of featuring these guys the other day. I was cruising down the main drag back in my hometown and “Tom Sawyer” came on the radio. I cranked it to 11 and jammed out.
But yes, RUSH — who just played at the Minnesota State Fair a couple weeks ago, actually (sadly, I missed it!). (2019 edit: this has become one of my life’s greatest regrets.)
You’ve likely jammed out to one of their tunes unknowingly. It happens. It’s cool (now apparently).
