Grandma Himes’s Sugar Cookies + Beautiful Holiday Decorations
I just got done making holiday sugar cookies for my mom.
I used everybody’s favorite recipe from Grandma Himes and randomly made some frosting that actually worked out.
The baking part was the easy part. The recipe makes for easy rollout, cutout and transfer to baking sheets. But of course I made the frosting part into an all-out design expedition.
Anyway, I brought all my gel food coloring home (the stuff I bought during my cupcake obsession) along with a few colored sugars I’ve acquired throughout the past few years on our random sugar cookie making events.
I realized after I sorted the cookie shapes that I made 3 different kinds of trees. I ended up frosting the trees in 3 completely different ways: an evergreen in a snowy forest, a Christmas tree with colored balls and a Christmas tree with lights and tinsel. A little ridiculous, I know!

Oh man. That was a fun day.
