Tuesday was my boss’s last day at Drake. *insert super sad face here*

She’s also pregnant — WITH TWINS! So we had a combination going-away-baby-shower party for her. I made chocolate covered strawberries. YUM.

One thing I learned from this round of chocolate covered strawberries (I’ve had less pretty ones created from previous batches):

One thing I learned from this round of chocolate covered strawberries (I’ve had less pretty ones created from previous batches):

BE CAREFUL WITH CHOCOLATE.  As in don’t overheat it.  Do 30 seconds at a time in the microwave in a glass bowl.  And when it looks like it needs about 30 more seconds, instead, stir it for 30-60 seconds to melt the remainder. BINGO. Perfect chocolate.  I also used a spatula to drizzle white chocolate over the top. White chocolate is even more picky, so be careful or it will get lumpy and clumpy.

I love Halloween. Definitely my favorite holiday. It combines two of my favorite things: dressing up and candy.

I love Halloween. Definitely my favorite holiday. It combines two of my favorite things: dressing up and candy.

This year I decided that I looked so fabulous in my black dress I got for my b-day that I would need to base my costume around that dress. So … cat or mouse or something else?  Little Red Riding hood.  I actually came up with that idea because I was going to bring my dog, Barney, to the Halloween party with me as the Big Bad Wolf. But I ended up taking him to my parents house to stay for a while.

So I called my friend Matt to see if he wanted to go to the party with me (I didn’t bother to ask his roommate Mark if he wanted to go because he doesn’t care to dress up for Halloween).  Matt loves Halloween.  Anyway, Matt was going as the Big Bad Wolf since his friend Katie was going as Little Red Riding hood ON Halloween.  So my costume was decided.

My friend Kelly decided to go as Robin Sparkles. If you don’t know Robin Sparkles, you must watch this video ASAP.  I procured a robot from my coworker (don’t ask — he likes to go thrifting).

Anyway, we went to my friend Maria’s place for an awesome party.  I hadn’t drank much for a few months, so I had a little bit of wine. Apparently my few glasses of wine turned me into a pretty big riot.
