My Big Fat Honeymoon Recap — Part 6: Adventures in P-Town (possibly NSFW)

A year ago we were headed to Provincetown, Massachusetts as friend of mine and a random Plymouth record store owner suggested. They both said Provincetown was weird, and we’d probably fit right in. They weren’t wrong. This was my favorite place we visited in New England. Next time we go, I want to stay in Provincetown.

I titled this post “… possibly NSFW” because there are some photos and videos included that are probably NSFW if you don’t work in design. I sometimes forget to warn people of NSFW content because just about anything that can be construed as “art” (including most things in this post) is fine for me at work.

Anywho…

Adventures in P-Town

Romeo’s Holiday: the first thing we saw after parking the car (pronounced “cah”). The most amazing hot tub party scene greeted us.

This still makes me giggle.

We  ate lunch at a lovely outdoor place, The Canteen (thanks to my friend Niki for the recommendation), and then hung out outside. Provincetown is along the water, so we spent time walking around the beach. One of my favorite things about Provincetown is that it’s full of brightly colored buildings, art, and other things, like the kayak (is that a kayak?) in this photo.

Mark fit right in with the scenery.

Provincetown Honeymoon Adventures

Something about Provincetown reminded me of Los Angeles (street art?) so I, obviously, fell in love.

Mark bought me a DSLR camera for Christmas in 2015, and since he builds cameras for a living, he had fun figuring out how to use one.

After hanging around the beach for a while, we ventured out to the shops. I was still in street-art-capturing mode from LA, so we got a ton of great photos of funky artwork.

Just a giant fake shark hanging in the middle of the town. NBD.

Stickers on posts: a minor obsession of mine.

I don’t remember what the shop in the foreground is, but we took this photo for the shop in the background (the one with the flags). All week we worked on a 1000-piece Cape Cod puzzle that featured shops, including Puzzle Me This, (the shop with the flags). We had such a hard time finding the dang pieces for that shop, so it was funny to see it in person!

I took a picture of this place because:

  1. it’s purple (and it reminded me of Prince)
  2. and they had a sign outside—in the middle of the day—advertising a “Mermaid’s Orgasm” cocktail.

I saved my snap stories from every day on this trip, and you can see the Barbie hot tub party in its full glory in the video below. NSFW warning: after that, there’s footage of a head/porn shop, and the world’s only vibrator museum (no joke).

Love on ya, chimes

I love this post!! I’ve never been there and already wanted to go, and now I do even more! Did you ever read the book Land’s End: A Walk in Provincetown by Michael Cunningham? I think you might enjoy it!
