Super-relaxing weekend time. – life+running

Super-relaxing weekend time.

I realized last week that I am beyond burnt out. Actually, I think I knew this for a while. But last week I managed to not do a project that we had more than a month to do until the DAY BEFORE it was due. That’s not my style. I rocked it, in case you were wondering. I didn’t lose any sleep either.

I’ve been in dire need of some super-relaxing weekend time.

What did I do last weekend? Not a whole heck of a lot. I watched a LOT of Grey’s Anatomy on the couch with this little dude:

He was so snuggly, I didn’t want to leave …

I spent a good chunk of time outdoors because we broke 60° in Iowa (FINALLY). Barney and I walked a bunch (yes! he even went with me — the dog that usually refuses to walk). Also, I managed to hit my 2014 running goal of 5 miles on Saturday, so I signed up for a 10K in July. Actually I may have signed up for the race before I did that, but the last few weeks are kind of a blur, honestly.

I baked a couple of batches of cookies. One batch was a major fail (this one), but they taste good. The other batch turned out so good I’m not sure if I’ll send them to Mark. Kidding.  Just don’t count them …

I also cleaned and did a bit of laundry, but I kept all that jazz to a minimum. And I made some more of my veggie chips.

Then I slopped some paint on a canvas*.  I use these pieces as backgrounds for my design pieces, and it’s super relaxing to paint, so I’m going to keep doing it.

That about sums it up! I could go for another several days like those, how about you?

What did you do this weekend?

Linking up to Marvelous in my Monday at Healthy Diva Eats.

*I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m not an artist. I enjoy making shapes and mixing colors. I’m an artist just about as much as Joe Blow who knows how to use InDesign is a graphic designer. And no, Joe Blow, you are NOT a graphic designer. 😛

  1. I love your t-shirt and second your desire for relaxing weekends. I actually try to do a fair bit of that every weekend, when possible. It’s my way to recover and prep for the next week.

You’re so sweet making your man cookies. I’d take the failed batch too.

Thanks, Meghan! The shirt came from my friend Amanda as a gift for taking care of her kitties when she was at a conference. The kitties were bitches and slammed the door to their litter box room shut and pooped ALL OVER the place that day. She said they do that on purpose sometimes bc the door is propped open

  2. I LOVE that painting! The colors and the designs…it somehow works although I don’t think I could put together something like that. I do want to try sometime though! 🙂
