So, I owe everybody a big stinking update on everything. First, I’m going to tackle the GI / food allergy issue. The rest is for another day.
I went back to the allergist last Thursday to get some more testing done. I had him test the whole spectrum of foods that they had available. The result? Not good. But I can work on eliminating all of the bigger ones and try to eat much less of the smaller ones, and rotate them out so I’m not eating them all the time. I need to do some research because some of the things I’m allergic to have different names when used as food additives. And though I’m super careful about reading ingredients and buying as whole as possible, it would be good to know for when I’m traveling or at the mercy of others.
The big ones:
The rest (as much as I can remember):
- tree nuts (except cashews)
- navy beans
That’s not all but I don’t have the list in front of me. I’m not allergic to soy, eggs, dairy, or wheat. But I have a feeling that I’ll need to cut those out (along with meat, caffeine, and sugar) for a while so I can heal. Also, I need to heal because I can’t just eat all animal products all the time. I have naturally high cholesterol and I can’t be eating a bunch of stuff that makes that worse.
My friend Lindsay sent a few of us ladies suffering from food allergies a note yesterday that instilled some hope. It was a story about a girl in a similar situation who was healing and starting to thrive. I will get past this and life will go on.
