It’s no secret that I love Megadeth. In fact, I’m what you might call a mega-ficionado, given the fact that I own Megadeth potholders, towels, and a Dave Must-apron.
However, I stumbled across a Megadeth song I didn’t know existed. It’s actually an Alice Cooper song, so I’m doubly surprised I wasn’t privvy to this song already: No More Mr. Nice Guy.
How did I find this gem of a cover song, you ask? I discovered it while googling the soundtrack to an equally gem-tastic Wes Craven late-80s masterpiece, Shocker — the movie that I’m pretty sure caused me to hate both Coke and anything grape flavored, because as a 4-year-old I saw a bit of it (thanks to my ultra-cool aunt), freaked out, and threw up the coke and grape fruit rollup that I had been eating.
Yummy.
Anyway, I’d been searching for this movie for years to figure out what the hell made me react in that way. I’m still not sure, but I found a new (to me) Megadeth tune that comes with a video which features Dave Mustaine’s not-quite-b-movie quality acting. And lightning. LOTS of lightning.

My brother was obsessed with them when I was growing up and I think pretty much every t-shirt he owns was a Megadeth shirt.

You’d know this song if you moved to the midwestern Rust Belt where every other station is All-Ozzy-All-Cooper-All-The-Time.

I love when things like this happen! I’m always looking for old gems of favorite bands. I recently stumbled upon a few older tracks from Eve6 (don’t laugh) and it made my day.

I haven’t discovered a long lost tune, but I have been SEARCHING for one…on my birthday three years ago (maybe four?) Stephen Kellogg performed a solo set at our local “indie” music bar/music space. Obviously it was fate that he was there on my birthday, but he also sang this amazing song that totally spoke to me and my life and the crazy juncture at which I found myself. [The same one I am constantly finding myself in, actually.] I have never been able to find the song recorded anywhere, nor have I heard it again. He is on hiatus from his band and is going to be putting out a solo album and I am hoping beyond hope it is on there. [And also that it is as good as I remember it.
