Whoa, what? Wednesday. #operationpantsfit
I’m known for breaking convention, and for my rebellious streak. In fact, my friend Jaci featured me as a blogger crush, and said that she likes that I “blog about whatever I damn well please”.
[ source — it's pretty much my mantra ]
I’m officially a healthy living blogger now, and I’m also a Fitfluential Ambassador, in case you hadn’t noticed. It’s sort of in the bylines somewhere that you can’t blog about losing weight, and that wanting to lose weight is not healthy.
But today, I’m going to talk about the dirtiest phrase amongst healthy living bloggers: I want to lose some weight.
Yeah. I said it.
Don’t like it? Too bad. It’s my body, and I would like to do this for me, not to appease anybody else.
I’ve been wavering back and forth with the same 5 lbs. after I gained 15 last year. I want to lose weight, but everybody tells me “you look fantastic as you are”, “you look healthy” (Newsflash: Healthy is not a “look” — it’s a way of being), and “why would you want to lose weight?”
I’m tired of being unhappy because ultimately others don’t judge my happiness. I do. I’m not happy where I’m at, but yes, I’m pretty damn hot the way I am, thank you for noticing.
So why DO I want to lose weight?
It’s not because I want to look like this:

Or like this:
[ source — okay, a little like that. she's amazingly hot. ]
There are two reasons that I want to lose weight, since it’s obviously not for my health — I’m at a healthy weight:
- My clothes don’t fit. I’m sitting here with my pants unbuttoned at my desk as I’m writing this. At least I’m wearing pants. I’ve been wearing dresses/skirts to avoid this.
- Being at my ideal weight will not only help my clothes fit, but would help me perform my favorite activities optimally (even competitively) and help me avoid injury. Wait, that second reason IS for my health.
Since my ankle sprain, I’ve hardly worked out, and I’ve basically reset my body (I owe you a bigger post about this — and no, I didn’t gain any weight), and since that reset, I think I’m really ready to commit to losing this weight, without making myself crazy.
What’s my official goal? Ten (10) pounds — or until my clothes fit comfortably. I have a zero scale, so I’ve lost track of my actual number, but I do keep track of my weight. I’ve fluctuated up and down with the same 5 lbs. And oddly enough, I lost 4 when I was injured (likely muscle, boo). However, this is not about the number. And I think that’s also why I think I can do this now.
How am I going to achieve this goal?
- Set a deadline. Thanksgiving is coming up. That sounds like a great deadline.
- Track my food and fitness. I’m using MyFitnessPal to track (thechimes if you want to friend me) and I’m going to participate in Fitness Friday (yes, KATIE!)
- Push myself mentally. Probably physically too, but this is a mental issue for me.
- Listen to my body. And if I’m hungry, I eat. If I’m sore, I take a rest day. Period.
- And challenge others to join in with me.

Hi there. I'm Calee (pronounced CAL-e). If that's too hard, just call me Cal. Also known as chimes or the chimes. I'm 28ish, a designer, a runner, a self-proclaimed fitness queen, a craftster, a foodie, a music snob — some might call me a hipster. Here's the unabridged version.
