Way Back Wednesday: Kelly’s 22nd Birthday (2006)

My friend Kelly and I nearly share a birthday. We’re two weeks apart, and both of us typically celebrate a birthday week, if not a birthday month. Kelly’s birthday is this Sunday.

In 2006 Kelly had 20ish of our friends head over to The Cheesecake Factory in Des Moines. The wait was nearly two hours, so in the meantime, we tried on clothes at Forever 21.

And by “we”, I mean “me”. They made me try on ridiculous outfits. This is when I weighed 20 lbs. less, had a lot more hair, and when pretty much everything looked good on me. My friends set out to prove this with some of the ridiculous fashion statements Forever 21 had on its racks.

EDIT: Kelly reminded me that I need to tell you all about the worst parking job ever. The best part was that I totally stole this lady’s spot who’d been waiting patiently with her turn signal on. Yeah. I was that person at 21.

THANKS KELLY. And happy early birthday!

How do you celebrate your birthday?

AND What’s the most ridiculous thing in popular fashion today? I can’t believe either of those things were ever a “thing”!

Don’t forget — you can still win a bag or a coffee cozy. Enter to win here.

  1. To be fair… you were the only person those outfits would fit.

Also, I see you conveniently left out mention of the horrific parking job where you cut off that old lady. I still tell people of the tale of the worst parking job of all time, and how awful/awesome it was.
