I actually got up on time today. I’m so proud of myself.
It’s Monday morning and I’m hoping to continue some good habits that I’ve picked up in the last week or so.
I’ve been getting up a little bit earlier AND getting ready a bit earlier so I can make it to work — on time. Since I’ve moved to Des Moines and a block or so away from work, I’ve been about 15-20 minutes late every day. Not a huge deal since I’m still there before most everybody else and I stay late to make it up, but it’s the principal of it. Plus, I get sick of staying until 5 everyday. So, I’m going to get to work on time (or at least within 5 minutes of “on time”) this week. In a few weeks I’ll have to get there 15 minutes earlier so I can get my summer hours…so this will be a good start.
Last week I started eating a LOT of veggies. Yay for my tummeh being able to handle veggies again! I bought a head of romaine lettuce and the equivalent of a head of spinach (not just a bag of spinach) and some tomatoes and cucumbers as well. I ripped all the lettuce/spinach up and diced the tomatoes and cucumbers and put it in a massive tupperware bowl in the fridge. I got some flat-outs (flatbread-like tortillas) and some lunch meat and did rollups and salads all week. 🙂 I’m down 2 pounds. Which is exciting because I haven’t seen this weight for a while. Not that I need to lose a lot of weight…just those last 5 pounds I’ve gained since college. I’m pretty close.
Also, I’ve started a GREAT habit in the last month due to physical therapy and my running injury: STRETCHING. I spend about a half hour stretching after I work out. This will become time-consuming after I start running again and spend an hour to an hour and a half running, then a half hour lifting…and a half hour stretching. Oy! If I ever marathon train again, Saturdays will include 5-6 hour workouts b/c of this. Oh well. Injury prevention AND it also helps you run better and smarter.
I’ve been cross training (obviously) since I can’t run. I’ve been doing really great because I don’t just do the same thing every day, which is awesome for your muscle groups and weight loss as well. I’ve been digging the stair stepper lately now that my hip is about 90% better and pain-free, but I think I’m going to try to swim today. I can run a mile this week twice (but it has to be .25 miles at a time with walking in between).
Hopefully I can keep up these good habits because I’m living a little bit better lifestyle because of it. 🙂
that all being said…it’s time to get ready for work. 🙂
